The Australian Department of Home Affairs has finally released the much awaited updated Skilled Occupations List for the financial year 2019 – 2020. As expected and as it was being speculated by immigration experts and analysts, the Skilled Occupations List has been expanded to accommodate more trades professions which have been added to the list.

For instance, choreographers, geophysicists, multimedia specialists as well as footballers will now be eligible to apply for Australia’s permanent residency visa according to the updated SOL. The occupations were added to the Skilled Occupations List on Monday. Also, in order to be invited to apply for the permanent residency visa, migrants will have to be nominated in either one of the skilled occupations.

It should also be noted here that the new list that was announced has currently 212 skilled occupations eligible for either of the Skilled Independent Visa (sub class 189). On the other hand the Skilled Nominated Visa (sub class 190) that gives potential immigrants state sponsorship has 427 occupations. Also 216 skilled occupations are now available for the Employer Nomination Scheme Visa (subclass 186) and 508 skilled occupations are currently now eligible for Temporary Skill Shortage visa (TSS visa sub class 482).
